About the Maine Rural Health Field Guide
Maine is home to a growing number of innovative rural health projects and programs but they’re not always easy to find.
This Rural Health Field Guide was created to help inform, inspire, and encourage connections among people and organizations who want to improve the health and well-being of people and communities in rural Maine.
Like field guides that help identify plants or animals, this Field Guide includes short descriptions about exemplary rural health initiatives in Maine along with links to resources and key contact information. In addition to the ‘what’, the guide also features interviews with the people behind the projects to share their experience and wisdom.
The State Office of Rural Health in the Maine Department of Health and Human Services led the development of the Guide and is partnering with the New England Rural Health Association to design and host this website.
